- Ensure children have opportunities to experience the world outside the setting, eg through walks, visits, visitors, links with children’s homes.
- Support the development of children’s imaginary worlds by encouraging inventiveness, empathy and new possibilities.
- Introduce a diverse range of texts – picture, information and homemade books, and engage in interactive reading and storytelling.
- Co-create stories with children based on their ideas, experiences and the people and places they know or imagine.
